Start here with Building Thinking Skills Beginning. Happy, colorful illustrations make this a highly attractive program for any young child. The variety of delightful exercises ensures that this terrific book will give your child a solid foundation for academic excellence.

For ages three to four, but we know many two-year-olds who would thrive on Building Thinking Skills Beginning. We suggest that you follow this book with Developing the Early Learner.

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2016 Preschool Curriculum Kit!

Reading, writing, and math readiness.
Develops analysis skills for academic learning!
The activities are developmentally sequenced. Each skill (for example, classifying) is presented first in the semi-concrete figural-spatial form and then in the abstract verbal form. Children learn to analyze relationships between objects, between words, and between objects and words.
Building Thinking Skills® Beginning level may be used with attribute blocks, though they are not required.

Great book! October 18, 2016

My 3-year-old son loves doing these activities! They are perfect for him to do in short spurts but give him some great learning time! It holds his attention enough to finish two or three pages at a time. He always asks if we can do his work for school when I'm working with his older brother. Love this book and highly recommend!

We Love this book June 22, 2014
Reviewer: Sarah W.
I'm so amazed at the things that my 3 year old has learned from this book. Sometimes we hit a concept that takes him a little longer to learn but he has been able to work through almost all of them (we are nearing the end of the book). It did help that he already knew all his shapes and colors prior to starting the book. Now he knows so many other concepts. He often surprises me with what he can understand and he uses the things he learns in this book in everyday life. I do wish I had of discovered the Hands On Thinking Skills book from the same publisher a little sooner as it makes a wonderful companion book (we are just starting it now as we are finishing Thinking Skills).

Good for 2-4 year olds June 19, 2014
Reviewer: Catherine E.
Bought this for my daughter when she was 3...now at four she is still interested most of the time. She is able to do almost all of the activities (the "can you find me" ones still occasionally give her a hard time)...the best part is seeing her make connections to the outside world after we've done a lesson. It gives her such a boost to feel like she's really learning things - not to mention mom loves it, too!

I think we like it November 19, 2013

My 3 year old seems to be interested enough; we usually do 3 pages minimum (if she had it her way we would do 10 at a time) each sitting. I wish the targeted age felt more consistent...some activities are way too easy for her (like learning colors - she's known colors since before she was two) and other things are still a bit over her head (ex. where you read her a rhyme describing a picture and she has to tell you which of the four pictures it is). Overall, we like it and I would probably buy it again. I LOVE that it isn't consumable, so I can use it for my other two kids when they are ready.

Surprisingly engaging! October 6, 2013
Reviewer: Megan G.
My son is 3.5 and has a social-emotional delay (ADHD-like behavior). I was VERY SURPRISED and VERY EXCITED that he is totally into these workbooks and BEGS to do them. He concentrates, get the info, and can apply it to future projects/tasks. Fun way to help his brain organize and prepare for kindergarten. Highly recommend! Additional note: this book is secular in nature so it will work for a variety of religious/non-religious families.
