Biology 101 approaches biology through a clear Biblical worldview while helping students build a broad understanding of living systems, genetics, classification, and the complexity of life. Typically counted as one full high school credit, this video-based course combines visual instruction with guided review and optional hands-on learning.
Created by filmmaker, homeschool dad, and Bible college graduate Wes Olson, the course introduces major biology topics through video lessons designed to make complex concepts easier to understand and remember.
Students explore classification, plants, aquatic and avian creatures, land animals, human biology, cells, genetics, and the study of life through the framework of the days of creation.
The course includes more than 4.5 hours of video instruction across nine lessons, a printable 136-page guidebook with quizzes, discussion questions, accreditation materials, suggested scheduling support, and twenty optional labs for students who want additional hands-on learning.
Because the course relies heavily on visual explanations, animations, graphics, and discussion-based learning, it often works particularly well for students who struggle with textbook-heavy science courses or benefit from seeing concepts demonstrated.

My son used Biology 101 in addition to the biology curriculum included in his ninth grade curriculum kit. Quite often one of his younger siblings would wander over to watch with him. We definitely learned some interesting facts! Happy this was included.

Simple way to learn science

This is a very simple way to learn fundamentals of science. The videos are well done. I just have my 13 year old dyslexic watch it once and then the second time highlight and make notes on the printable guide that goes with it. This is just intended to be a foundation for high school biology later. It’s working great for that

Unable to print as we haven’t found anyone with a DVD drive and Acrobat reader. Hoping to be able to do it as otherwise all we can do is watch the videos. Any suggestions?

We are using this as a companion to another full Biology course. We watched this together at the beginning of the school year and both boys (14, 9) really liked it. I love the Biblical worldview. Some of the info might be a little dated (as my son informed me “that’s not actually true anymore”), but that’s how science works.
