Biblically-Sound Biology DVDs
In the Christian home-school realm, too often what appeals about a product is its religiosity, not its excellence. While you know that you cannot do an honest job of teaching biology unless you use a resource that is both scientifically-accurate and God-glorifying, many times a teaching parent may have to sacrifice one for the other.

First-Place Winner in 2004
Not so with Biology 101. The preview short From Genesis to Genes was the first-place winner in the Creation Category at the 2004 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. Now this four-DVD version is available to teach your entire family high-school-level biology in a systematic way.

Scientifically Accurate
Developed and hosted by homeschooling father, Multnomah Bible College graduate, and fifteen-year veteran filmmaker Wes Olson, Biology 101 approaches teaching biology by classifying all of life according to the days of creation. Individual segments include classification, plants, aquatic creatures, avian creatures, land animals, mankind, cells, and genetics. Upon its completion, it was submitted to the Institute of Creation Research, where it was intensely scrutinized and was found to be scientifically accurate. Nearly 4,500 hours were spent researching and developing Biology 101.

Hundreds of Captivating Visuals and Graphics
It may be Biblically sound and scientific, but is it appealing? Absolutely! In fact, we have never seen a more engaging approach to biology. Using eye-catching video footage supported by hundreds of captivating visuals and graphics, Wes does an excellent job of explaining even the most complex of topics. And if retention is important to you, you will especially appreciate Wes' effort to cement any new vocabulary through the use of word pictures.

Biology 101 is best for students who:
1. Would benefit from an overview before an intense biology study.
2. Struggle with textbooks but readily learn via discussions.
3. Are not college-bound but need the basics of biology.

Appropriate and Engaging for the Whole Family!
With initiative, Biology 101 can also be used as a full-blown, accredited biology course. Towards that end, a printable PDF file with quizzes and discussion questions is included as well as a twelve-page Course Accreditation Program booklet which is included as a printable PDF. While Biology 101 was designed specifically for ages fifteen and up, if you have younger children in your home you will be relieved to know that every word, graphic, and picture in Biology 101 is appropriate for the entire family. In fact, while this may be technically geared for high-school students, children as young as eight who love science and are bored with juvenile science courses will glean a massive amount of biology knowledge from this course and be further ahead for it.

These nine individual segments run from thirty to forty-five minutes each:
  • Introduction: Defining Life and Life Classification
  • Plants
  • Aquatic (water) Creatures
  • Avian (flying) Creatures
  • Land Animals Part 1
  • Land Animals Part 2
  • Mankind Part 1
  • Mankind Part 2
  • Conclusion: Cells, Genetics, and a Brief History of Biology

Another outstanding component of Timberdoodle's 2017 Ninth-Grade Curriculum Kit!
  • 114-page guidebook is included as a printable PDF on disc 4

12-page Course Accreditation Program booklet is included in a printable PDF format

    Biology 101–9th Grade, A Review
"...As soon as we started watching Introduction: Defining Life and Life Classifications – I knew I had the missing piece of our puzzle. Our family enjoyed the teacher, his voice and his mannerisms...I do believe that with our current Nature Studies and this DVD series we will be able to stand firm in the knowledge that the High School Credit has been earned in Biology..."

"...By themselves, the Biology 101 DVDs make an excellent introduction to Biology for the middle school student and can be enjoyed by the entire family. With the workbook materials included, this set is a complete high school level course for Biology. We will be using these videos over and over for the next decade..."

    Biology 101
"...I am not a science person, or at least I wasn’t. Watching these videos makes me realize I could have been into science, if this is what my public school teachers had used. This DVD course is very interesting. Although it is targeted for the high school student, it is suitable for any age student {or parent}. There was no point in any of the DVDs that I wished that the pace was any different from what was offered, and when I was playing the first few in our living room, the little ones came in, looked at the television and stayed to watch!..."

Excellent Biology Introduction March 3, 2017
Reviewer: Mrs. S from COLVILLE, WA United States
My 10 & 11 year old are rather ambivalent about science, but have enjoyed this DVD series.  It's presents a large amount of information at a moderate rate, so the do miss quite a bit, which I expect for their ages.  We plan to repeat it in two years to gain more depth from it.  However, while they may not remember the scientific names of things, they have retained a lot about processes, taxonomy, etc.  I think this is appropriate for ages 8 and up (though younger ages could certainly watch, I think it might be too deep to be of much benefit) with younger students grasping some basics, and older students gaining more in depth knowledge.   The guide/narrator is a little nerdy,  but very engaging and pleasant to listen to.

My son and I are September 27, 2014

My son and I are very impressed with this curriculum. We really like how it is laid out by the days of creation. In the vidoes Mr. Olsen is very good at explaining biology in creation. The photography is absolutely beautiful. I appreciate how the lesson plans are written out and that he can work at his own pace if we want to. The guidebook is so informative a gives reinforcement of the contents of the video's. The quizzes cover the material very well. It takes a lot of pressure off of me because I can be sure that he is getting taught extremely well about biology in a biblical and Godly manner. He has been so excited about what he is learning and it holds his interest and make him want to research his topics further for the essays. Thank you for the passion and hard work that went into this curriculum.

Very happy with this so September 3, 2014
    Reviewer: Stephanie J.
Very happy with this so far, but a little concerned that this will not be enough for a full high school class, which is what I purchased it for. TD Reply: So glad you're enjoying the course! Don't forget to check out the PDF files on the 4th disc for quizzes and discussion questions as well as their twelve-page Course Accreditation Program booklet. :-)

    Love Biology 101 March 12, 2014
    Reviewer: Nathan M.
This is an excellent DVD set! My children are much younger than the recommended ages. But my children ages 10, 9, 6, 5 all love it. The 3 and 2 year old watch it on and off. Considering this is intended for 9-12 grade, I think that says a lot. It is no easy task to create a curriculum that can interest such a wide age range. I use it with my kids for fun movie time. They watch it over and over, each time taking away something new. I appreciate being able to build such a good educational foundation for them in an enjoyable way. I like that it is entertaining and fun, but it is not silly. It is good solid teaching.

Love love love! October 26, 2013
    Reviewer: Melissa
We love Biology 101! It's great to use in the van to and from activities. It is a FULL curriculum with lots of detail packed into each half hour segment. If you need a college prep course I think it could be enhanced with labs and additional resources. I wish it had a workbook to go with it so it feels more like a complete curriculum but if you have a child with a learning disability or doesn't like to read video curriculum is a great option. This video curriculum is so nicely done, exactly what we were looking for!
