Homeschool scheduling
How to plan your schedule for your homeschool students - a simple approach with free pdf downloads

One of the great benefits of homeschooling is its incredible flexibility. Some families use a traditional schedule and school 5 days a week for 9 months, then take 3 months off. Others choose to school year around, but may only dedicate 3 days a week to schoolwork; leaving lots of times for family adventures, service and exploring their local area. The important thing is to find a schedule that will work for you. Schedulepicture

Annual Planning Schedule:
At the beginning of your school year you will want to rough out a plan to make sure you get everything done this year. This form will help you do that. Just decide how many weeks you want to do school this year, and then fill out the form below.

Note on the math:
When your schedule calls for doing 4.71 math lessons a week, or 3.1 thinking skills pages, we suggest that you simply round up. This will give you more flexibility as you proceed through the year. For instance, if your child has a hard time with fractions in February you will be able to relax, slow down, and only do 2 lessons that week, knowing that you have effectively 'banked' lessons ahead of time for just such an occasion!

Weekly planning schedule
Our family prefers to print a weekly schedule so that each student knows what is expected of them. After completing your annual schedule, transfer the numbers into this form and print it for your child each week. As he completes a subject he may check it off, and when the list is complete, he is done with school for the week.

We've found that not only does this provide a painless way of tracking every week's work; but it also goes a long way toward developing the student's time management skills, independent learning abilities and motivation.
