Art Blocks: Pattern Cubes
These lightweight Art Blocks with their unique artistic element are so amazingly versatile that it is difficult to assign an age range to them. The sixteen large, 2" square plastic blocks make them safe for the entire family, so you can begin to use them as soon as your child can arrange two to three blocks in a row.

A Few Ideas To Get You Started:
Start with an easy pattern on a single level, and slowly progress to a simple structure with two or three blocks that your child will copy. Or place several blocks in a pattern, and have your child study it. Then cover it with a towel and see if he can replicate it. This is more difficult than you may think.

Easily Simplified for Younger Students
When your child is too young to follow the 36 two-dimensional pattern cards, you can ease him into the process by placing all but one or two blocks into the template and have your child complete the puzzle. Gradually he will be able to solve more and more of the puzzles.

Visual-Spatial Processing, Discrimination, and Perception
As he plays and builds with Art Blocks, his necessary visual-spatial processing, discrimination, and perception skills are strengthened, but without the drudgery workbooks can entail. We have found Art Blocks to be as useful for toddlers as for adults, particularly those who are experiencing signs of mental decline. Even stroke victims find the large, smooth blocks easy to manipulate, and the exercises are just what they need as they work to regain the ground they have lost.
