More Than a Private Adoption Story
Prepare to be surprised and deeply affected by the tone and content of this book. It isn’t just a personal adoption story, although a breathtakingly beautiful one permeates the pages. Nor is it a theological tome on the implications of adoption, though it is chock full of theology.
His Story – Refocused
Have you thought deeply about how you have been adopted as God’s child? Could God use Adopted For Life to let you see familiar truths in a new, stunning form? My understanding of God’s love for me was reaffirmed when it was placed in the context of two unwanted Russian babies languishing in a vile, filthy orphanage. As I contemplated my own adoption into Christ’s family, dwelling on the reality that I am His wanted & loved child drew me to worship anew. As you look around the church and realize that by this great adoption we are family in the truest sense of the word you not only worship our great Father but are also given a passion to support adoption locally and globally as a picture of what Christ has done for us.
A Book For Families Longing For Children
Russell Moore speaks honestly and directly to the fears and questions adoption raises. Adopted For Life also touches on such subjects as how a home-study works and what about the relatives (In fact, this book could be a great gift for relatives who don’t understand why you would want to adopt!).
A Book For Families Who Have Never Considered Adoption
God may not call you to adopt, but by His own example He has called you to treasure adoption, and this book will help you do that.
A Book For Pastors, Elders, & Church Leaders
Scripture affirms that churches grow exclusively through adoption. Everyone who comes to Jesus comes because He adopted them. This book should enable you to minister more effectively to your adopted siblings.
Just Read It
As you might expect, some of the topics in here are rather mature. They are very tastefully addressed, but I’d suggest pre-reading before handing it off to your children. However, we don’t think you can read this book and remain unmoved. Pick up a copy, read it prayerfully, and worship your adoptive Father!
What Others Are Saying About "Adopted for Life:
"One of the bright young leaders in the Christian world combines his own experience of adopting sons with a powerful message to the church about the key role it can play in promoting adoption. This is a wonderful book in which Russell very effectively weaves in mankind's own story of adoption by God. The personal accounts are particularly moving. To be pro-life, you have to be pro-adoption."
Chuck Colson, Founder, Prison Fellowship
“Russell Moore's life has validated every word he has written. But most especially, his father's heart has been vulnerable and broken. In this book he speaks from his heart, mind, and life to ours about the possibility of incarnating adoption as a fleshed out reality in the world of our own families.”
Michael Card, Musician and Bible Teacher
"Thankfully, there are good books on adoption and good books on the gospel. But until the arrival of Adopted for Life, there has never been a book that puts the adoption of children so clearly within the context of the gospel of Christ. Adopted for Life is one of the most compelling books I have ever read—both deeply touching and richly theological. You will never look at adoption or the gospel in quite the same way after reading this book. How could the church have been missing this for so long?"
R. Albert Mohler Jr., President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
"A well-written rooting of adoption in biblical theology. Moore, who weaves in the story of the two Russian children he and his wife have adopted, shows how churches should view adoption as part of their mission. He shows what a difference it would make if Christians were known once again as the people who take in orphans and make them sons and daughters."
Marvin Olasky, Editor-in-chief, World; Provost, The King's College, New York City
"Out of personal experience and with biblical accuracy, Moore helps us understand God's purposes in adoption and its connection with gospel compassion."
John MacArthur, Pastor, Grace Community Church, Sun Valley, California
