Timberdoodle's review Learn more   I have yet to meet a fast reader who hated to read, but I have met countless children and adults alike who confess that they don't like to read because they are slow readers. If you also have seen that reluctant readers are slow readers, then perhaps you have already seen the need for a program to help your child learn to read with more speed. Even children who already read effortlessly can still improve their speed and increase their ability to absorb more material in a shorter amount of time. There are two things slow readers need to eliminate: the tendency to pronounce words in their mind while they read, and letting their eyes wander back so that they pointlessly re-read text. AceReader Pro Deluxe deals with both issues. It will also expand their ability to take in a wider amount of text and do so at increasingly higher speeds. AceReader is not designed to teach your child how to read, but instead focuses on helping him be more proficient at his reading. After taking a self-paced reading comprehension test to determine his base reading speed, your child will then work at reading drills and play skill-building games. Both tests and drills for grade levels one to twelve are included. Detailed records, program settings, and test results will be maintained in a separate database for multiple users. The program can even be customized if you would like to use your own drills and tests. In fact, if you choose to use the Comprehension Test Editor to create and edit your own comprehension tests or drills, you'll be delighted to know that AceReader Pro Deluxe also includes a readability analysis tool to help you determine the grade level and complexity of text you have added. While AceReader Pro Deluxe is a fairly frill-less program, emphasizing straightforward skill practice, it does have a couple of nifty features. For the child looking for a challenge, AceReader Pro Deluxe can be used to flash whole pages of text at desired speeds to develop PhotoReading techniques. Better yet, AceReader Pro Deluxe can also be used as a memorization tool because it can repeat material over and over while gradually increasing the speed. Of course, you can input whatever you would like your children to memorize, but Scripture suits our fancy. Really helped my son improve November 5, 2008 Reviewer: Kim W. from Greenback , TN   I have used Reading Ace with 3 of my children so far. I plan on using it with the rest, as well. One of my older children was struggling with reading and this program really helped him improve. It is nice because I do not have to do any work for them to use it. I just check up on their progress once in a while. Also, it is nice that it can be used for many age levels and only has to be bought one time. Was this review helpful to you?

A great resource!! November 3, 2008 Reviewer: Pam T. from Columbia, MO   I have loved Ace Reader.  It is a been a great resource to track my children's reading speed and comprehension.  It is part of our regular computer routine for our son with dyslexia.  When our computer crashed that had Ace Reader on it and I didn't have my origial registration number, the company sent me another one, even the newest version, to download. His reading is more fluent... October 17, 2008 Reviewer: Kathleen S. from Dix Hills, NY   my son is a slow reader at 10. This program is fun yet covers comprehension, speed drills and other fun, but not silly games. As a teacher, I do not like silly games that waste teaching time. Yes, they may cover a skill but a lot of bells and whistles and treasure chest activities are added fluff. ACE Reader is not like that. It is challenging and exciting but gets to the point. I put my son of it, independently for 25 minutes and I know he is getting good stuff from it. His reading is more fluent without the lose of comprehension. Was this review helpful to you?
