A good geography curriculum is more than isolated facts, concepts, and generalizations, which are not only difficult to remember but often useless. However, a great geography curriculum not only selects pertinent topics that focus on the earth as it is modified by human action but also highlights the Creator God that fashioned it all.

A Child's Geography: Explore His Earth does all that in an engaging manner that children will find appealing. Each chapter begins with a captivating adventure text, followed by a number of enjoyable activities. If you divide the chapter into two sessions, not only will the lesson not become tiresome but it will also provide you with a natural time to review key points. A Child's Geography: Explore His Earth promotes narration and note-taking in the form of "postcards" to encourage long-term memory. There are reading lists to go deeper if you so desire and loads of truly optional activities; choose only those that will bless and not burden you.

Each chapter has a segment on how your family can take the information and reach out to others. From knitting blankets for the poor to collecting change for clean water for African villages, you'll be inspired to consider how God would want you to meet the needs of those who share this planet with us. This 243-page, full-color textbook has a bonus CD-ROM that includes reproducibles in the form of copywork, postcard templates, quizzes, world and continent maps, and more. This very complete, very enjoyable program is marvelous for grades 1 - 6.

For parents who love to interact with their kids! November 5, 2008
Reviewer: Maria M. from Wallingford, CT
The book is written with the intent that the parent(s) would be involved with their children in the reading as well as doing the activities in this book.  Our children absolutely love geography (they are 5 and 7)and are always willing to go on adventures...this books lends itself to both.  For those parents who love to interact with their kids and delve into study (and have fun too!) I would highly recommend it and the sister book A Child's geography of Biblical lands.

It only takes about 20 mins each week October 20, 2008
Reviewer: Lillian W. from Las Vegas, NV
I have a 5th and 2nd grader. We enjoy reading this together once a week on our 'flying carpet', so the review postcards are useful. We split each chapter into two. It only takes about 20 mins each week. I do look out for some of the extra suggested readers from the library to read between lessons. They both look forward to their Geography each Friday.

I really like how it is Christ centered. October 20, 2008
Reviewer: Stacy O. from Spokane, WA
I like the way the author uses conversational style writing to engage child's interest to geography.  Key ideas and new vocabulary are highlighted. Activities suggested at the end of each lesson are very doable and help to bring God's big picture into the study.  I really like how it is Christ centered.  At the end of each lesson is a list of books for further reading that we can check out from the library if we wish.

What we were waiting for! September 29, 2008
    Reviewer: Anonymous person from Wibaux
This geography book is exactly what my children and I have been waiting for! It is written from a Christian perspective, giving glory to God, and is easy to read. It is divided into easy to handle sections which help remove all feelings of being overwhelmed. The "Reaching Out to His World" section gives an application for what is learned creating a God glorifying purpose for it.
